School Programs
Within the safety of your school hall, we can turn it into a fun learning environment with our life size dinosaur skulls, claws, jaws and real fossils. Many of the items we bring are only ever seen behind museum glass or barriers. We welcome your students to get up close and personal and even hands on with our museum quality collection.

Have you ever seen what it's like to be stepped on by a T rex foot!
The of panning for gemstones in our program is to encourage children to not only learn about the wider world around them but also what lies beneath their feet and to appreciate these gifts of the whenua (land).
Dinosaur Darren loves to incorporate his Tupuna's (ancestors) wisdom of the past by the sharing of Whakaari the greatest Kaitiaki (Guardian) Taniwha legend of Aotearoa as this is a timeless message about Manaaki (respect, caring) conservation of the whenua. (Land)
Dinosaur Darren will share with your school students one of his Tupunas (ancestors) Māori legend of a great Taniwha. This legend passed on throughout the generations and is of the greatest Kaitiaki (Guardian) Taniwha of all Aotearoa and it lives beneath Aotearoa. When this Taniwha see's that Tāne (man) is being disrespectful towards the whenua (land) the Taniwha will then, shakes its back causing the land to move and rumble, this is to remind Tangata (mankind) that "Hey, remember Tāne you are only mortal and not immortal like me the mighty Taniwha!" (Whakaari island). For Whakaari Island (White Island) is not only an island but to Māori it is the head of this great Taniwha and his spines on his back are the Southern Alps of Te Waipounamu (South Island). We know this great Taniwha is still alive today as he was generations ago when Māori first arrived on the shores of Aotearoa, and how do we know this? "Look at Whakaari Island today. Do you not see the hot steam that rises into the air from the crater? for this is his mouth and the steam is his breath of life.
"So Tāne take care of the whenua and it will take care of you, but know this Tāne even though I am resting I am always watching with one eye open"
