Testimonies
We just love it when the school students take the time to write about their experience the day we visited them at their school. You should see their faces after they all get to touch fossilised Coprolite and then we tell them what it is fossilised dinosaur poo! Then they learn that back in 2005 scientists found tiny wee - microscopic silica crystals (phytoliths) in fossilised dinosaur poo that were native to grass. Interesting when some scientists say there was no grass at the time of the dinosaurs however, with the development of technology scientists eventually found there were up to 5 types of grass back then. The fossilised coprolite the scientists found this in came from those massive Titanosaurus sauropods. In Aotearoa a part of rib bone was found in the Mangahouanga stream which also belonged to a sauropod dinosaur. Our Kiwi sauropod was most likely related to Titanosaurus and ours was about 12m long. So the long neck dinosaurs didn't just spend all day with their heads up in the trees like they show in the movies. But hey kids its nearly Lunch time and you know what you have just touched so what are you going to do before eating lunch. Wash your hands lol..
Well done Noah
